In late autumn sown trials its yields are competitive; around 1% above Tybalt and 1% below the winter wheat Einstein and little lodging has been recorded in trials treated with PGR.

In spring sown trials its yields have been around 4% lower than Tybalt and slightly more lodging has been recorded.

It has good resistance to mildew and yellow rust and above average resistance to brown rust.

White-grained wheats are often prone to sprouting in the ear with a resulting loss of Hagberg. Eearly indications suggest that Zircon has a sprouting resistance similar to Glasgow. It is important that the variety is given priority at harvest to reduce the sprouting risk.
