CropBench is a free computer based cost management tool that enables growers to calculate costs of production and gross margins for combinable crops. In addition to this users can upload information securely via the internet and make confidential comparisons to group, regional and national data.
The CropBench system is made up of two parts. Firstly cost and sales data is collected via a CD-Rom program, which needs to be installed on a home or office computer. Secondly information is submitted via the internet so that comparisons can be made. In order to submit information for comparison, users need to be registered and issued with a username and password. The username and password used for CropBench will be the same as your HGCA username and password.
CropBench users are generally members of Arable Business Groups as this enables growers to make the most of comparisons via group discussions and access to funding for industry experts. However, individual growers that are not a member of a group can benefit from using CropBench. Individual users can use the system by registering to be part of a 'virtual' Arable Business Group. This will still give you confidential access to comparison data and may offer the opportunity to form new grower groups.
Groups who wish to register as an Arable Business Group and use CropBench should phone 020 7520 3964 or email cropbench@hgca.com along with the group name, members list and contact details.
Individuals wanting to use CropBench and join a 'virtual' Arable Business Group should email cropbench@hgca.com along with your name and address. Alternatively individuals can login/register on the HGCA website and then update your subscriptions to include CropBench. Once registered you will be sent a CropBench CD-Rom. Your application is subject to approval by HGCA and CropBench is only available to levy-paying arable farmers. |
