With policy changes increasing exposure to world markets, UK growers are now, more than ever, subject to the pressures of global market volatility. In each of the last three years, UK wheat prices have moved at least £25 per tonne per year, an equivalent to entire variable costs of £200 per hectare (or £80 per acre).
