RD-2006-3287 Better estimation of the efficiency of use of soil nitrogen
This project aims to improve estimation of the availability of soil nitrogen to combinable crops and identify management practices that will help to optimise its efficiency of use.
RD-2007-3425 Establishing Best Practice for Predicting Soil Nitrogen Supply (SNS) To achieve consensus across the industry on best practice for estimation of soil N supply.
RD2008-3189 Cost-effective sampling strategies for soil management
The overall aim of this project is to develop a rational strategy for practical field sampling for nutrient content of soils, to ensure that inputs meet crop requirements and that significant areas of excess or inadequate nutrients do not emerge.

See precision farming in practice
HGCA is holding a series of farm visits throughout the summer months to demonstrate how precision farming techniques are being used in practice. The visits are part of the year-long 'Be PRECISE' initiative providing information to growers about the benefits of precision farming.
