Background to HGCAs involvement in the oilseed rape fungicide performance trials
HGCA has only recently started funding fungicide performance trials on oilseed rape (started in 2005) compared to wheat and barley. The decision to support this activity was due several new fungicides being introduced for oilseed rape, resulting in a lack of independent data to guide farmers on their effectiveness for disease control, yield effects and hence their cost-effectiveness. New and existing fungicides are assessed for the performance in controlling sclerotinia, phoma and light leaf spot in oilseed rape.
