Variety notes - Spring and late autumn wheat

  • Wallace is recommended only for autumn sowing and is no longer in trials.

  • In late autumn sown trials, Wallace has given yields 7% below Einstein.

  • In late autumn sown trials grain characteristics have been at the lower end. Protein contents have been lower than other varieties of similar yields and Hagberg Falling Number has also been fairly low averaging 223 s.

  • From spring sowings it has yielded 8% below Tybalt and has given the lowest Hagberg Falling Number and low specific weight.

  • It has good disease resistance.
