HGCA Recommended List candidate varieties



Varieties grown in trials in 2007 but not added to the HGCA Recommended Lists

Five varieties were grown in HGCA spring barley trials in 2007 but were not included in the Recommended List. These are:

  • Azalea, Fairytale, Knightsbridge, Maltby, Snakebite

Spring Barely For Export

Several varieties which have been grown in trials in the UK are now used for malting in Europe.

Some of these are recommended and the best source of data for those is the current HGCA Recommended List.

Others were not Listed or have been removed from the List and a summary of their performance is given in the tables below.

Growers are strongly advised to speak to their merchant before committing to a particular variety for export.
