HGCA Research and Knowledge Transfer Publicity Guidelines
(a) These guidelines apply to anybody working on research and knowledge transfer projects funded by HGCA, and are issued in conjunction with the project offer and appropriate Terms and Conditions document.
(b) HGCA encourages the publication of project results in the press, scientific journals and third party newsletters, at scientific meetings and conferences, and at meetings for levy payers and the industry, in accordance with the conditions detailed in paragraph (e). Copies of all published papers and conference proceedings should be forwarded to your assigned HGCA Research and Knowledge Transfer Manager, as an electronic version wherever possible.
(c) A summary of KT activities should be presented to HGCA during annual project monitoring meetings and documented in the Project Management Report.
(d) You may publish information (research results and data) arising from the project generally (subject to necessary consents from Collaborators and other funding partners) in accordance with the conditions detailed in paragraph (e)
(e)
(i) the information is submitted to HGCA in the form in which you intend to publish it with a request for permission to publish it;
(ii) the publication complies with any confidentiality and IP clauses agreed at the outset of the project by HGCA or other funding partners;
(iii) HGCA has authorised the publication in writing, which may be subject to conditions. If HGCA has not refused permission within two weeks from receipt of the request, you may assume that permission has been granted without any conditions except that you must comply with the other requirements in this document. If the permission is conditional, those conditions must be respected; and
(iv) The publication includes a statement in a form approved by HGCA that the project was ‘supported by the HGCA division of the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board’ and complies with clause 12 in the terms and conditions document. When referring to HGCA in a publication, this should be done as ‘the HGCA division of the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (HGCA)’ where it first appears and thereafter the acronym ‘HGCA’ should be used. There is no longer such a body as the Home-Grown Cereals Authority.
(f) In any forms of publication released by HGCA relating to the project it will identify the involvement of you or the organisation you represent and each of the collaborators (if any) where appropriate and practical.
(g) If you are approached by the press, HGCA should be informed at the first possible opportunity. We would appreciate a copy of any resulting press coverage where possible.
(h) HGCA may request that you deal exclusively with a specific journal or newspaper for the purposes of publicising results from a project or that information arising from a project or project results are subject to a publicity embargo or media blackout.
(i) You are encouraged to prepare a selection of high resolution photographs, electronic /images or films to illustrate the project, and to make these available for use by HGCA and journalists, for publicity purposes.
(j) HGCA may be able to help with the production of press releases and articles. Each project will feature on the HGCA website on its own dedicted page. HGCA may use any media it deems appropriate to publicise the project and may ask for help and support where necessary to achieve this.
