Tillage 2011 - Tramline Management

Tramlines can be one of the biggest sources of compaction and run-off in the field. As part of the Catchment Sensitive Farming initiative HGCA attended this year’s Tillage-Live event to show how good tramline management can improve financial and environmental efficiencies. 

Working with ADAS, the stand featured live demonstrations of low ground-pressure tyres and spiked harrows as part of the HGCA and LINK-funded tramline management research (project 3386). The project is looking at the use of new technologies to alleviate the risk of tramline compaction in the most practical and cost-effective way.
