Overview
HGCA research explores various aspects of crop disease and control. Some research produces practical tools such as a disease forecasting tool or information about fungicide performance. On the other hand, some projects have longer-term aims such as understanding the evolution of fungicide resistance or varietal disease resistance.
Research examples
HGCA’s fungicide performance projects (3457, 3734 and 3756) provide growers with independent information on the performance of fungicides and the most effective time and rate of application. Project 3713 is an example of a longer-term project as it monitors the efficacy of azole fungicides used with winter wheat.
Future research
Research will continue to build on the valuable fungicide performance and monitoring programmes. HGCA will continue work in close collaboration with key members of the industry, including plant breeders, agrochemical companies and the BBSRC.
