Varieties

HGCA Recommended Lists are run by Crop Evaluation Ltd, an independent company owned by HGCA and managed by all stakeholders involved in the Lists. Varieties are added to the Lists when they are considered to have the potential to provide a consistent economic benefit to the whole industry.

Running the Recommended Lists

Each year HGCA invests around 13% of its total levy income to assessing varieties for the HGCA Recommended Lists.

The HGCA Recommended Lists are run on behalf of HGCA by an independent company Crop Evaluation Ltd, which is owned by HGCA but managed by all stakeholders in the Recommended List.

Acknowledgments

Organisations from across the whole industry are involved in producing the HGCA Recommended Lists.

Acknowledgement is also made of the contribution of DEFRA and plant breeders through their payments for National List trials and tests, and to BSPB members for significant additional data made available from their co-ordinated trial series.

RL Plus holds data from over 2,000 trials and allows comparisons between varieties for more than a dozen characteristics.

RL Plus has been updated with the interactive HGCA Recommended Lists for 2009/10 and now includes 2008 trials results.
