Maris Otter Success Showcases Innovation and Collaboration Jonathan Arnold

Maris Otter is a relatively old variety having been created in 1958 and commercially launched in 1962, before gradually falling out of favour.
Yet in 2008, more than 40,000 tonnes of Maris Otter was sold by crop marketing specialist Robin Appel. The story of this variety’s success stems from recognising a market opportunity, putting in place the supply chain contracts to ensure a continuing supply, and promoting it in this country and overseas.

This case study demonstrates in action a number of the themes which HGCA’s Supply Chain Partnership promotes, including innovation, communication, and collaboration. You can listen online or download a short interview with Robin Appel Director Jonathan Arnold by clicking here.

Win a bottle of whisky!

As part of HGCA’s Supply Chain Partnership, we held a round table discussion on haulage in the cereals industry earlier this year. It featured representatives of every part of the supply chain, from farmers through to brewers. The discussion was recorded and edited into a series of podcasts which can still be heard by clicking here.

Now is a chance for you to have your say and win a bottle of whisky at the same time. All you have to do is click on the link below and fill in the simple online questionnaire. It will take no more than five minutes. We will publish the results in the New Year.
