Fusarium seedling blight

Causal organism  - Mainly Microdochium nivale

Control

Because the fungus is present within the seed coat, rather than as a superficial contaminant on the seed surface, seed-borne infection is not easily controlled by surface-acting fungicides. Despite this, organomercury used to give acceptable control. All of the currently recommended seed treatment fungicides are effective. While seed treatment greatly reduces the risks of seedling blight it will not afford adequate protection against later invasion by Fusarium species present in the soil.
