Signposting HGCA publications for the cropping year

Arable farming is highly competitive. The pace of change seems to accelerate all the time as new varieties emerge and new agro-chemicals are launched and new environmental restrictions imposed.

Throughout the season you need to be looking at your production systems and challenging established ways of working. This section of our website is designed to help stimulate questions and provide some answers.

Each section gives indications of actions that may need to be taken at each time of year and shows the publications that HGCA has produced to help. It does not provide an exhaustive list and some of the actions only need to be applied if there is a problem.

Photos wanted

Help us to populate the Cropping Calendar with your seasonal farm photos /images by entering our photo competition. All you need to do is to e-mail either a landscape or close-up of a crop (like the ones on this page) that is representative of a time of the year.

We would particularly like current crop scenes of wheat, barley, oats or oilseeds that we can add straight away, so if you are out on the farm with your camera please send us the photos /images and we'll select the best ones to put on the website.
