How to Get Involved

HGCA, organisers of Farmhouse Breakfast Week, are demonstrating to everyone that breakfast is the meal you can't afford to miss, with the new theme 'Breakfast Benefits'. The campaign showcases the most important meal of the day and raises awareness of the nutritional benefits of eating a healthy breakfast as part of a balanced diet and active lifestyle.

Farmhouse Breakfast Week also provides a perfect opportunity to promote the wealth of wonderful breakfast produce available around the country. From butchers style bacon and sausages to speciality breads and cereals, there is a fantastic choice to benefit the start of your day.

The links below provide a range of ideas on how you can organise an attention-grabbing event to encourage everyone to start the day with breakfast.

Maximising publicity

Invite the media along

It is easy to invite local media along to your event and here are some simple ways to contact your local newspapers, television, and radio.

  • The contact details of your local newspapers will appear inside the front cover. Alternatively the following websites should list all the papers covering your area: www.wrx.zen.co.uk/alltnews.htm or http://www.newspapersoc.org.uk
  • Send a press release detailing the event, a template for which can be dowloaded by clicking here to invite a local television or radio crew to cover your event
  • Other opportunities with the media could include cooking a breakfast live on radio, or to announce the winners of your Farmhouse Breakfast Week competition.

Organise a photocall

  • Using the press release template, that can be downloaded by clicking here invite local media to a photocall to publicise your event
  • To help generate media interest, invite an MP, local dignitary or a local celebrity. If the newspapers are interested in covering your event they may attend, but you should bring your own digital camera along in case the newspapers do not send a photographer. Email a photo to the local media that day with all your details including names
  • If your event involves children you must ensure you have permission from their parent or guardian to use their image in any media.
