• Forensic was added to the 2009 HGCA Recommended List as a malting variety which may be suitable for brewing and the malt and grain distilling markets

• As a new variety, it is still under test by IBD and malting barley growers are advised to speak to merchants before committing to this or other varieties in this position

• UK treated yield potential is similar to Belgravia and some 8% higher yielding than the grain distilling variety Decanter in the North region

• Good resistance to brackling

• Moderate foliar disease resistance
