In today’s GMD we look into concerns arising from delayed soyabean planting in Brazil, and at how UK milling wheat premiums are responding to evolving market.
Prices in the oilseed complex have fallen recently as US soyabean harvest pace has picked up. However, high demand as indicated by latest US soyabean export inspection data, could change the direction again.
The last month has shown that despite the big production in 2014, the purely bearish and one directional nature of grain markets is over. This brings the return of uncertainty which can make fixed price buying and selling decisions very difficult.

Russia has taken advantage of the weakening of its currency, along with the raise in global grain prices, to re-enter the wheat export market this week. We also put October’s price gains for global grains into perspective.
