First harvest results in
With two winter barley Recommended List trials harvested, get ready for more results over the next few weeks.
The first treated trial from Suffolk has an average yield of 9.7 t/ha. “One result doesn’t make a picture but the yield from Suffolk is heartening,” explains Dr Simon Oxley of HGCA. “The 6-row hybrid Volume achieved a yield of 107% of the control varieties, the highest 2-row feed yield comes from KWS Glacier at 109%”
The untreated yield trial is from Lincolnshire where the most common disease was powdery mildew. Average untreated yield from this trial is 8.9 t/ha compared with the 5 year average of 7.49 t/ha.
