HGCA: Independence, Innovation and Investment is a brief overview of who we are and what we do. Read about how HGCA is funded, what we invest in and how we add to a sustainable cereals and oilseeds industry.
To create a dynamic UK arable supply chain where all are able to profit from a sustainable sector.
To deliver a world-class arable industry through independence, innovation and investment.
More than 50% of the cereals and oilseeds annual levy income of around £10m is invested in research and knowledge transfer activities.
HGCA invests around £750,000 each year providing the cereals and oilseeds sector with timely and independent economic information and analysis. This is delivered centrally through AHDB’s Market Intelligence division.
HGCA’s Business Improvement activities aim to assist levy payers to effectively respond to demand and equip them with the information to make continual improvements to their businesses.
HGCA invests in a variety of campaigns that aim to educate consumers about the health and lifestyle benefits of incorporating a range of cereals and oilseeds products into their diets as well as the importance of sustainable farming and food production.
New roadmap to guide water management activity
HGCA has published a Water Roadmap to guide water management activity in the arable sector. The Roadmap outlines the water availability and quality challenges that the cereals and oilseeds industry faces and progress made by the industry.
HGCA invests in export market development activities delivered through its BCE team.
BCE works to generate demand for cereals in overseas markets in order to ensure that exports of any over-production in the UK prevent oversupply of the domestic market. This helps to sustain internal prices for cereals relative to world prices.
HGCA staff and researchers are available to speak at all sorts of events from local grower or agronomist groups to major conferences on a range of technical and business-related topics.
