Disease research
Overview
“Crop diseases have a huge impact on yield and quality. HGCA invests in a wide range of projects to keep on top of disease. Fungicide performance research gives growers and agronomists up-to-date information about products effectiveness. Other projects look in detail at pathology and pathogen resistance to fungicides.”
Dr Paul Gosling – Research and KT Manager
Focus on: SDHI Stewardship
SDHI fungicides have played a crucial role in maintaining the efficacy of cereal fungicide programs. The crop protection sector is working together to ensure that SDHIs are used responsibly – in mixes with triazoles – to slow the development of resistance and keep them in the crop protection armoury as long as possible. HGCA is supporting this effort with research into likely paths of resistance to SDHIs so that crop scientists are one step ahead in the evolutionary race.
