Industrial uses research
Overview
“End uses aren’t limited to food and feed, there are a number of industrial processes which can make use of cereals and oilseeds. HGCA is responding to this market opportunity by supporting research into the use of cereals and oilseeds for the production of biofuels, biodegradeable packaging and fine chemicals.”
Harley Stoddart – Research and KT Manager
Focus on: bioethanol
HGCA is exploring how bioethanol and high-protein animal feed can be co-produced, potentially reducing the need for imported feedstuffs. However, the goal of replacing imported feedstuffs, such as soya bean meal, requires optimisation of all the processes involved to ensure that nutritive value is maximised.
