Technical Conferences
About
HGCA currently supports three major technical conferences
- The Agronomists’ Conference
- The Agronomists’ Intake Day
- The AHDB Crop Research Conference
HGCA Agronomists’ Conference
The HGCA Agronomists’ Conference is a full-day technical conference based on the latest developments from HGCA’s research programme.
The event is for seasoned agronomists looking to stay ahead of the game and make the best decisions on behalf of their grower clients.
Save the date for 2015: 8 December (provisional)
Integrating pest management for 2015 and beyond
About
The EU Sustainable Use Directive requires growers to adopt integrated pest management (IPM) practices.
This year’s conference explored the latest IPM research solutions to help growers ‘prevent and/or suppress harmful organisms’.
9 December 2014 Peterborough Arena
HGCA Agronomists Intake Day
This new event has been developed with the support of AIC and AICC to help meet the training needs of new entrants to the agronomy industry by introducing them to HGCA staff, services and information.
Presentations from the last event (28 October 2014) are now available on the HGCA YouTube channel:
- Getting the most from the Recommended Lists
- Fungicide performance and resistance risks
- Crop nutrition – information beyond RB209
- Monitoring and agronomy tools
- Weed control – rotational planning and resistance
- Pests – using thresholds and timings to stay in control
AHDB Crop Research Conference
This cross-sector conference brings together leading scientists to discuss the latest developments in crop protection and production which will become in-field tools in the years ahead.
2015
The next Crop Research Conference is provisionally planned for September 2015, more details will appear here when available.
2013
The last conference focused on how a better understanding of the fundamental biology of pests, weeds and diseases can help develop the next generation of crop protection tools.

PhD Poster competition
The conference featured posters from up-and-coming crop scientists on a wide range of topics. The winner was Rachel Goddard of the John Innes Centre, the runners-up were Louise Gamble and Massimo Rutolo, full details of all posters can be found in the abstract booklet.
